Introduction
The IG City Challenge will take place on the Thursday evening as part of the IG London Nocturne at The London Bike Show. The competition will see city teams competing for points over several cycling disciplines – quite simply the business with the most points will be crowned champions.
The Teams
Teams are made up of four riders and can include staff members or company clients. The only rule is that professional or ex-professional riders are not allowed to race. Confirmed teams include:
1 IG
2 Clifford Chance
3 Ernst & Young
4 Financial Times
5 BNP Paribas
6 Brewin Dolphin
7 Tullett Prebon
8 Telegraph
9 RPM
10 Sky
11 Wiggle
12 Shift Active Media
PLEASE NOTE: Team places are still available – see entry package below.
The Challenge
The Challenge will include cycling stages designed to test sprinting, climbing, bunch racing and time trial skills. The Team Captain must choose which of his team mates will ride each stage before the whole team compete in the final relay on the specially designed indoor circuit.
Stage 1: Individual Time Trial (riders will race against the clock over two laps of the circuit).
Stage 2: Hill Climb (using turbo trainers, riders will race against the clock on a tough hill climb).
Stage 3: Criterium (a bunch race over 20 laps to test endurance and bike handling).
Stage 4: Sprint (speed will be measured as riders are timed over a 500m roller race sprint).
Stage 5: Team Relay (the team comes together to race a lap each in the team relay).
Points will be awarded for each stage with standings updated after each round of the competition.
